A Balanced Life is hosting a summer DBT-I skills group for teens ages 14-18. Groups will run from:
June 26 - August 16th on site at A Balanced Life on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm.

In this group, participants will learn:

  1. How to manage stress and overwhelm
  2. Helpful ways to handle big emotions
  3. Skills for effective family, friend and romantic relationships
  4. How to calm the body & mind down through mindfulness

This group will benefit all teens, but can be particularly helpful for teens who:

  • Have stress management difficulties
  • Experience emotion dysregulation
  • Have experienced adverse life events or trauma
  • Have difficulty with interpersonal relationships
  • Exhibit impulsive behaviors
  • Have urges to self-harm
  • Use avoidant coping strategies
  • Have symptoms of depression and/or anxiety
  • Utilize substances to cope with struggles

This group requires an 8-week commitment.

Note that this group is a psycho-educational group and designed to build skills in participants. It differs from a therapy group in that it focuses on learning new skills and developing more productive ways to manage uncomfortable emotions. It is not a therapy group.

If you are interested in signing your teen up for individual or family DBT-I therapy, please ask for a referral from their assigned school counselor during the school year and from Natalie Collin, School Psychologist ncolling@ltusd.org,  during the summer, to access our free therapy services.
